Narrative:
During climb out on SID; deviating for thunderstorms we received an ECAM warning: eng 1 EPR mode fault. [We] followed ECAM and company procedures. [We] sent ACARS message to maintenance control that went unanswered. Continued climb to FL330. Twenty minutes later received additional ACARS messages: eng 1 reverse unlocked; and eng 1 hot fuel. [We] continued to ACARS maintenance control without answer or confirmation. Finally called dispatch for link to maintenance control. Maintenance control and dispatch advised us to return. Poor maintenance [this] aircraft had been written up previously and cleared for flight. Need a way to call/contact maintenance control without delay for in flight problems.
