Narrative:

Cockpit air noise so loud it interfered with safe operation of flight; we missed numerous radio calls and need to confirm many clearances given. Needed to wear earpiece entire flight. This is a continuing problem which is not taken seriously by the company or the FAA. Make no mistake; safety of flight is being compromised! I have spoken with some pilots who will not even write this problem up. Because they believe; as I do; the company has no intention of fixing this problem. We have had pilots in the past who attempted to record noise levels in flight; but they were told to end this practice. I would like to volunteer to carry and use a noise meter on all my trips to record db levels in the cockpit. If the company is truly concerned about safety; please take me up on my offer! The continued practice of checking cockpit air noise at the gate with APU on and engines shut down is ridiculous.
