Narrative:
The VASI at detroit willow run airport (yip) is not accurate and needs to be checked by the FAA flight check. I have reported this to the tower controller and yet it has not been deactivated; NOTAM'ed; or corrected. The VASI brings you in too low as well as the lights not working correctly. The far lights appear correctly. However the near lights will often show a red light on the left light and white light on the right. It is a little frustrating that this cannot get fixed. On a previous flight I was landing in IFR conditions after flying the ILS to 23L. Upon breaking out the VASI indicated that I was very high while the ILS said I was on the glidepath. I requested the tower turn the VASI off and they indicated that they were unable to as they are directly wired to the approach lighting system.
