Narrative:
We were given an aircraft and an overhauled engine with new parts to install onto engine. We installed the engine and parts. The plane went on a test flight and upon retracting the gear after take off; the pilot then saw the oil warning light and landed the airplane. Upon inspection; the nose landing gear had pushed open the quick drain valve. The drain valve was given to the mechanic by the aircraft owner to be installed and was the wrong type.
