Narrative:

Crew logbook entry stated (right #2) R2 [sliding] window missing a window 'closed' placard. Searched maintenance manual (MM) for required window placards. MM 11-31-35-2 does not show placard in question; also (illustrated parts catalog) ipc 11-31-35-01 does not show placard in question. Signed-off logbook as not required. After departure; maintenance control called and said MM 11-31-01-2; figure 201; sheet 3; item H shows the placard; and that aircraft was dispatched illegally. The problem here is that; there are two maintenance manual references; with one that is missing some of the placards that are required.
