Narrative:

I worked a log page pilot report on a B757-200 aircraft. Write-up was on takeoff configuration and warning light illuminated. Siren sounded during takeoff; EICAS message; spoilers displayed; airplane was in correct takeoff configuration.it was brought to my attention that it should have been a service difficulty report (sdr) item. I checked our maintenance procedures manual 41-04-20 and it indicated it was not an sdr item; but a maintenance engineering report form. Air transport association (air traffic area) coding guide shows it is one for aborted takeoff. I followed the procedures manual.troubleshooting per fault isolation manual (fim) 31-51-00. Removed and replaced (right/right) speed brake handle position switch per amm 31-51-03. Checks ok. When signing-off the logbook; I didn't check 'yes' for an sdr item.either the procedures manual should be updated or the air traffic area coding guide should be revised to match the procedures manual.

Narrative: I worked a log page pilot report on a B757-200 aircraft. Write-up was on takeoff configuration and warning light illuminated. Siren sounded during takeoff; EICAS message; spoilers displayed; airplane was in correct takeoff configuration.It was brought to my attention that it should have been a Service Difficulty Report (SDR) item. Air Transport Association (ATA) coding guide shows it is one for aborted takeoff. I followed the Procedures Manual.Troubleshooting per Fault Isolation Manual (FIM) 31-51-00. Removed and Replaced (R/R) speed brake handle position switch per AMM 31-51-03. Checks OK. When signing-off the logbook; I didn't check 'yes' for an SDR item.Either the Procedures Manual should be updated or the ATA coding guide should be revised to match the Procedures Manual.
