Narrative:

Departed on a short hop to [another airport] 25 NM southwest. Weather was VFR but ceilings were forecast to 'slowly deteriorate' later in the day. Weather to the west was supposed to be better. Was talking to TRACON shortly after takeoff. Upon reaching my destination; I decided the weather was declining faster than forecast and decided to return to my departure airport. Requested the GPS 28. Flew the approach to minimum and started the missed. Noticed the alternator light on; requested vectors and declared an emergency. Requested the ILS 4 into a nearby airport; just a couple of miles away. Must have hit the flip-flop (to the VOR frequency which has a similar approach) in turbulence and wasn't getting the glide scope so had to miss the ILS approach. The second ILS 4 approach was successful. The weather declined much faster than forecast. The alternator failed in flight and has been replaced.

Title: A F33 Pilot reported deteriorating weather forced his return to his departure airport where he executed a missed approach and discovered his alternator failed. An emergency was declared and he diverted to a nearby airport for a successful approach.
