Narrative:

Without discussion; while on a climb out on down wind; my captain inverted the airplane to which he later said was to be a roll but seemed more like a split-south maneuver to me or like he lost control attempting to complete a roll. There was no discussion prior to the maneuver. The weather conditions were VFR and we were at an uncontrolled airport so I was in the process of talking to ATC and copying our clearance as the maneuver happened. I was unable to listen to ATC because I lost my headset due to the unexpected maneuver. We were low (no recollection of how high due to the shock of the situation and flight attitude we were in). However; I started to contact ATC at 3;000 ft. There were several different warning alarms and red flashing lights going of on the flight displays.
