Narrative:
[We were] cleared direct muncie (mie) from ZNY center to mie. ZOB center requested cross 105 east of mie at FL300. Crossing restriction was placed in airbus FMS. Aircraft turned approximately 8 degrees to left because FMS re-computes direct from great circle route since initial direct occurred over ZNY center airspace. Controller queried on why turn and I told him that the FMS had placed crossing restriction at that point but we would proceed direct to mie if he wanted us to. We proceeded direct to mie. We were told to contact ZID center of a possible deviation.
