Narrative:
The problem arose due to my lack of experience with our efbs. These are new to the 727 and we still have paper charts to back us up in using these for navigation. When cleared for a [downstream fix on] the EWR8 SID; I was unable to pull up that part of the SID and incorrectly believed it was not on the SID. In reality; had I scrolled or expanded the screen presentation I would have found the fix. By the time I found the point departure had asked us to proceed to a navaid we were receiving. I discovered my error after going back and playing with the way I had efb SID displayed; thus gaining a bit more experience.
