Narrative:
Early morning in fnt we went to get deiced at the remote pad depicted on the chart. We were marshaled into the pad. Then upon exiting we were given the taxi instruction to take C2; C; a; runway 18. We pulled out from the deice pad and began taxi toward C2. While doing this I got suspicious we may be on taxiway C already. Verification with the airport signs indicated that we were. As we approached C2 the captain began to turn south onto C2 which would have put us on the runway. I told the captain to stop and asked that we look at the chart and verify with ATC. ATC indicated that yes; we were on C and told us to continue. ATC indicated that this is a common mistake and complaint by crews. I believe the airport diagram is wrong in fnt. I don't believe there is a separation between the remote deice pad and taxiway C as is depicted on the chart.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: An aircraft was deiced on the FNT deice pad facing south at the C1 taxiway throat. The crew unknowingly taxied out on Taxiway C1 then turned right thinking they were on the ramp when they in fact were on Taxiway C. The ATC taxi clearance; the dark icy conditions and their location caused confusion.
