Narrative:
The problem arose after discovering that my radio was apparently not transmitting or receiving, having attempted to request airport advisories and not hearing normal unicom 1 chatter. I entered a left downwind and decided to extend the downwind slightly in order to check for other traffic in the pattern on base or final. After having no visual contact with other traffic, I proceeded to turn left base and then on to final approach. While on final, an small aircraft Y appeared at my 10 or 11 O'clock position. I rocked my wings in an attempt to get the other pilot's attention. However by this time we were on a collision course and I decided I had better take evasive action immediately. Other contributing factors were: 1) landing light on my aircraft malfunctioned, and 2) pilot(south) did not exercise the see and be seen rule.

Title: UNABLE TO ANNOUNCE INTENTION AT NON TWR ARPT ACCOUNT RADIO FAILURE RESULTS IN NMAC IN TRAFFIC PATTERN.
Narrative: THE PROB AROSE AFTER DISCOVERING THAT MY RADIO WAS APPARENTLY NOT XMITTING OR RECEIVING, HAVING ATTEMPTED TO REQUEST ARPT ADVISORIES AND NOT HEARING NORMAL UNICOM 1 CHATTER. I ENTERED A LEFT DOWNWIND AND DECIDED TO EXTEND THE DOWNWIND SLIGHTLY IN ORDER TO CHK FOR OTHER TFC IN THE PATTERN ON BASE OR FINAL. AFTER HAVING NO VISUAL CONTACT WITH OTHER TFC, I PROCEEDED TO TURN LEFT BASE AND THEN ON TO FINAL APCH. WHILE ON FINAL, AN SMA Y APPEARED AT MY 10 OR 11 O'CLOCK POS. I ROCKED MY WINGS IN AN ATTEMPT TO GET THE OTHER PLT'S ATTN. HOWEVER BY THIS TIME WE WERE ON A COLLISION COURSE AND I DECIDED I HAD BETTER TAKE EVASIVE ACTION IMMEDIATELY. OTHER CONTRIBUTING FACTORS WERE: 1) LNDG LIGHT ON MY ACFT MALFUNCTIONED, AND 2) PLT(S) DID NOT EXERCISE THE SEE AND BE SEEN RULE.
