Narrative:
As the galley carts were being exchanged between the economy galley and the upper deck galley something happened and one of the carts disengaged. The carts appeared to be safe and secure and were always in the area of a flight attendant. Thankfully the flight attendant that was in the area of the cart was able to get to get to the cart before it could cause any damage. The carts go directly into the cart lift in a timely manner during the exchange. Sometimes unforeseen things happen but the awareness of the flight attendant saved the situation. This type of situation should help make everyone aware of the importance of cart safety so this does not happen in the future.
Original NASA ASRS Text
