Narrative:
We landed at night on ord runway 27L; exited on the high-speed and contacted ground. Ground told us to double back eastbound on H to the bridge. As we taxied east on H taxiway; an air carrier E170 taxied from its gate to taxiway hotel and nearly collided with our aircraft. He came from our right side; less than a 30 degree angle at an above normal rate of speed and appeared to be in a hurry. I quickly hit our brakes to prevent us from running into him.I notified ground control but they were too busy to listen to our request to obtain a flight number. We were never advised of any traffic about to cross our path or give way. The E170 captain never bothered to look back to see if any traffic was approaching. We continued to the pad awaiting gate.
