Narrative:

Our aircraft, an medium large transport, was on takeoff roll on runway 23R at tys (my first trip into tys as a new first officer--third rotation after ide). The captain had pointed out the crest in the runway, which is lower by over 50' on the departure end. As we began our takeoff roll, he again mentioned that fact and we were both looking down the runway. As we neared the crest of the runway, we were approaching takeoff speed and I was looking inside, at the engine instruments and V1VR speeds. As we rotated, I came 'outside' with the captain and spotted what he had seen moments before: a light aircraft taxiing opp direction to us, on the extreme right side of the runway (west side). The aircraft had been hidden from our view by the hump of the runway until a second or so prior to rotation. It was a light colored aircraft (white, I think), single engine, which we later learned had landed NORDO opp direction and cleared off to the side. The low WX and poor visibility, coupled with the light color, made him hard for the tower to see, along with the unexpected nature of his presence. All 4 of our landing lights, 2 runway turn off, and strobes were on--maybe he saw us before we saw him, but it was clearly a potential disaster.

Title: CLOSE PROX ACR-MLG GA-SMA AT TYS RWY 23R.

Narrative: OUR ACFT, AN MLG, WAS ON TKOF ROLL ON RWY 23R AT TYS (MY FIRST TRIP INTO TYS AS A NEW F/O--THIRD ROTATION AFTER IDE). THE CAPT HAD POINTED OUT THE CREST IN THE RWY, WHICH IS LOWER BY OVER 50' ON THE DEP END. AS WE BEGAN OUR TKOF ROLL, HE AGAIN MENTIONED THAT FACT AND WE WERE BOTH LOOKING DOWN THE RWY. AS WE NEARED THE CREST OF THE RWY, WE WERE APCHING TKOF SPD AND I WAS LOOKING INSIDE, AT THE ENG INSTRUMENTS AND V1VR SPDS. AS WE ROTATED, I CAME 'OUTSIDE' WITH THE CAPT AND SPOTTED WHAT HE HAD SEEN MOMENTS BEFORE: A LIGHT ACFT TAXIING OPP DIRECTION TO US, ON THE EXTREME RIGHT SIDE OF THE RWY (W SIDE). THE ACFT HAD BEEN HIDDEN FROM OUR VIEW BY THE HUMP OF THE RWY UNTIL A SECOND OR SO PRIOR TO ROTATION. IT WAS A LIGHT COLORED ACFT (WHITE, I THINK), SINGLE ENG, WHICH WE LATER LEARNED HAD LANDED NORDO OPP DIRECTION AND CLRED OFF TO THE SIDE. THE LOW WX AND POOR VIS, COUPLED WITH THE LIGHT COLOR, MADE HIM HARD FOR THE TWR TO SEE, ALONG WITH THE UNEXPECTED NATURE OF HIS PRESENCE. ALL 4 OF OUR LNDG LIGHTS, 2 RWY TURN OFF, AND STROBES WERE ON--MAYBE HE SAW US BEFORE WE SAW HIM, BUT IT WAS CLEARLY A POTENTIAL DISASTER.
