Narrative:
Climbing through 10;000 ft; we got a left engine fuel filter EICAS message. We contacted center and requested to slow our climb and level off at intermediate altitude. We leveled at FL220 and accomplished the QRH procedure. The procedure required a landing at the nearest suitable airport. We contacted dispatch through ACARS and with their concurrence we returned for an uneventful landing back to our departure airport. Engine operation remained normal throughout.
Original NASA ASRS Text
