Narrative:

In cruise at FL310 at .75 mach with the autopilot engaged. The airplane shuddered and then went into a sudden and uncommanded 50 degree right bank. I disconnected the autopilot and returned the aircraft to a normal attitude. The captain asked center what type of aircraft was ahead of us. Center responded that we were in trail of a heavy. No one was injured in the back of the airplane; although drinks were scattered all over. There were no further incidents for the remainder of the flight.
