Narrative:
I was assigned to replace a triple seat in a B737-400 aircraft. My lead mechanic and I researched the part number (P/north) using company illustrated parts catalog (ipc) and component maintenance manual (cmm) to confirm the correct part to install. We found the part; I installed the seat; and signed it off as completed.this morning I was informed that the company had submitted a self-disclosure because the wrong seat for that position had been installed. This was due to the company not updating the ipc and cmm. My lead and I did everything by the book; but the book was inaccurate. Make sure all company documents are kept up to date. Also; simplify the charts for the seats installed on the aircraft.
