Narrative:
After landing lax runway 6R; given instructions to follow behind a another wide body aircraft on taxiway east. We exited runway 6R at high speed taxiway Y. While exiting on taxiway Y I had my head inside the cockpit completing the after landing checklist. When I looked back up I noticed our aircraft was very close to taxiway lights on my side of the aircraft which the captain also saw and immediately steered away from the lights. The intersection of taxiway Y and east is poorly lit and because of taxiway closures we were required to make a 135 degree turn from the high speed to the taxiway. When we arrived at the gate the captain called lax ground and requested that an airport vehicle check for possible light damage. A few minutes later ground confirmed that there was damage to a taxiway light and a sign. Maintenance and I checked the landing gear and found no damage to the aircraft.
