Narrative:
Deferred item XXX [maintenance procedure (M/P)] was called out [to be accomplished] on aircraft X; a B757-200 aircraft located at terminal gate xx. I complied with the maintenance requirement in MEL chapter 27-21-00; but on aircraft Y; a different B757-200 aircraft located on an adjoining terminal gate. I signed-off complied with deferred item maintenance procedure and sent the maintenance release to aircraft X. After questioning by the flight crew of aircraft X; whether they had the correct maintenance release; I realized my error and then performed M/P required on aircraft X. A new maintenance release was sent to aircraft X; before brakes were released at the gate. Situations sometimes occur when an individual is assigned multiple gates with similar aircraft types at same times.
