Narrative:
Tail compartment temperature high light came on during climbout. Did QRH red box items. Light cycled on and off. Declared emergency and returned to departure airport. Arff crew found no visible problem and we returned to gate. This was a repeat item from the day before.

Title: MD83 Captain reports Tail Compartment Temp High Light during climb out. An emergency is declared and flight returns to departure airport. The crew had experienced the same problem with this aircraft the previous day.
Narrative: Tail Compartment Temperature High light came on during climbout. Did QRH red box items. Light cycled on and off. Declared emergency and returned to departure airport. ARFF crew found no visible problem and we returned to gate. This was a repeat item from the day before.
