Narrative:
I was talking to a E170 at FL360 northwest bound; a A319 was at FL370 eastbound; and communication was transfered to cleveland center. Cleveland center called requesting control to descend the A319. I did not reference my traffic (the E170); I thought they were watching traffic; but they weren't because he came from a different sector. Separation was lost when they descended the A319. Recommendation: always reference known traffic and don't assume anything!
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ZAU Controller described a loss of separation event when ZOB descended traffic after receiving approval but still in conflict with ZAU traffic; the reporter acknowledging conflicting traffic should have been referenced.
