Narrative:
We were parked at a gate. The ramper gave us the signal that all was clear to start engine #1; then engine #2. We started both engines. When the surroundings were clear; the ramper and wing walker marshaled us out of the gate; using minimal break-away power. We received clearance from ground control and continued the taxi out without any knowledge of the damage to the jet bridge. I was told the jet bridge sustained damage from possible jet blast. [Maybe we should] do push-backs instead of power-outs; so that we aren't directing our jet blast toward the jet bridge.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: EMB145 First Officer is informed after the fact of damage to a jet bridge possibly caused by jet blast from their aircraft as it taxied away from the gate.
