Narrative:
During hurricane evacuate/evacuation fly off, my student deviated from assigned arwy and proceeded along wrong route. The situation was further confused by ZHU requesting us to fly direct to sat VORTAC, then returning and assigning back to arwy, and then reassigning us back direct to VORTAC. Assigned route was V568, upon reaching lemig heading nwbnd is when we received the first call direct to sat. We received second call about 10 seconds later back to V568. Student proceeded back on V161 to somer. Upon approaching somer we received third call direct to sat. I was misled by my student who was on a very early stage radio instrument flight and not ready for arwys environment in busy area. Another contributing factor was anxiety over anticipated damage from hurricane gilbert heading towards our homes in south tx. A more watchful eye on my student should have prevented this incident.
