Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: Pilot controlled lighting went out while the B737 crew was on short final in VMC. The Captain initiated a go around to closed pattern; relit the lights and landed without incident. His First Officer took significant exception to that course of action; believing the should have executed the published Missed Approach using standard company configurations and procedures; recontacted the center and return for landing under ATC control.
