Narrative:

I was training a developmental controller on LC1/LC2 combined. When the trainee cleared a B757 for takeoff and two calls later tried to cross a B737 down field as the 757 started its takeoff roll; I yelled 'no' while reaching for my transmit button. The trainee; realizing the bad call; tried to stop the crossing B737; but got no answer. I then quickly canceled the departing 757's takeoff and he responded. He had just started his roll and I had him exit the runway to taxi back then continued the B737 across the runway. They were more than 7;000 feet apart.
