Narrative:
A PRM1 was cleared off the ground through flight service. The route given was rut..dyo..btv which is a northbound route; and given 6;400 ft. The aircraft checked on frequency and was given a climb clearance to 7;000. The pilot stated something about runway heading. The radar controller inquired to what runway he departed and to report 30 south of btv. The aircraft then was asked his position from btv. He eventually responds that he was 25 miles south of the rut airport. His cleared route was nowhere in this direction; actually it was in the opposite direction to the north. Upon realizing his position; I coordinated point outs to 2 separate sectors and an adjacent approach control. The aircraft also climbed through another aircraft that was holding south of rut awaiting approach clearance to rut. Better pilot awareness on proper IFR departure procedures [seems to be called for].
