Narrative:

I made a passing comment to the first officer that there was a slight cigarette smoke smell in the air. He smelled nothing. Since I had just come off sick list; I figured it was just my nose acting up. Thirty minutes later the lead flight attendant notified us that an armrest had been smoking and the smoke stopped when the passenger entertainment system was shut off. The first officer and I briefly discussed the situation and decided to divert. Overweight landing and we flew above 250 KTS below 10;000 MSL. No further smoke was observed.
