Narrative:
During a thunderstorm; an unsecured carry-on baggage cart was blown into the aircraft; and struck the fuselage and one of the blades of the number 2 propeller. No apparent damage to the fuselage; but the tip of one of the blades on the number 2 propeller was damaged. I witnessed the event from the cockpit of the aircraft. This event occurred because ground equipment was not properly secured with an impending thunderstorm. The company was contacted and made of aware of the situation and the damage. When thunderstorms or other weather situations likely to produce high winds approach an airport; all ground equipment should be secured to prevent movement and positioned in the event the securing fails it will not strike an aircraft.
