Narrative:
After leveling at cruise; ECAM indicated right windshield heat inop. Sent message to alert maintenance. Dispatch requested that we divert to ZZZ. We diverted without incident and landed normally. Apparently there was a maintenance history that required an extensive repair. I believe the company should correct re-occurring maintenance problems before they can negatively impact line operations.

Title: An A319 diverted to a nearby airport for maintenance when a chronic maintenance problem with the windshield heat recurred.
Narrative: After leveling at cruise; ECAM indicated R Windshield Heat Inop. Sent message to alert maintenance. Dispatch requested that we divert to ZZZ. We diverted without incident and landed normally. Apparently there was a maintenance history that required an extensive repair.
