Narrative:
September 2011. Upon arriving at work; was notified that I installed the wrong part number (P/north) escape slide nine days previous on a B737-800 aircraft; at cabin door 2-R [right-hand aft] position. Upon reviewing slide tracking tag information and work card; I was unable to remember anything about the event. I was unable to understand how this could have happened. We always have illustrated parts catalogue (ipc) printed with us upon installation of slide. Correct slide was installed six days after the event [original installation].I really don't remember the event. I know it is hard at times to keep up with all the engineering authorizations (eas) and service bulletins (south/bs). Would be easy if ipc was clearer [about] what south/bs were done [on escape slides].
