Narrative:
En route from tul to hobby airport overhead dfw (117.0) I set course 154 degrees (J87) in course window to continue flight per flight plan route. 24 mi south center asked about my routing clearance. First officer read back flight plan route. Well, as it turns out, flight plan route was out the 170 degree right to intercept the 334 degree right off college station. The mistake was clearly my mistake. The reasons for the error: in the past we have flown the jetway routing J87 for our flight plan route. The clearance was recently changed in our filed flight plans. Old habits (routings) are hard to break when one's been flying a standard route for 6 yrs. To correct situation: this routing was assigned by center to alleviate congestive flow between dfw and houston. If it is experimental or permanent I'm not sure, but it would help if a jet route were published on the hi altitude charts indicating a proper course, radial to be flown off of (dfw 117.0 154 degree right, for example). I'm sure many others have made this same mistake.

Title: CENTER STORED ROUTING NOT COMPLIED WITH.
Narrative: ENRTE FROM TUL TO HOBBY ARPT OVERHEAD DFW (117.0) I SET COURSE 154 DEGS (J87) IN COURSE WINDOW TO CONTINUE FLT PER FLT PLAN ROUTE. 24 MI S CENTER ASKED ABOUT MY ROUTING CLRNC. F/O READ BACK FLT PLAN ROUTE. WELL, AS IT TURNS OUT, FLT PLAN ROUTE WAS OUT THE 170 DEG R TO INTERCEPT THE 334 DEG R OFF COLLEGE STATION. THE MISTAKE WAS CLEARLY MY MISTAKE. THE REASONS FOR THE ERROR: IN THE PAST WE HAVE FLOWN THE JETWAY ROUTING J87 FOR OUR FLT PLAN ROUTE. THE CLRNC WAS RECENTLY CHANGED IN OUR FILED FLT PLANS. OLD HABITS (ROUTINGS) ARE HARD TO BREAK WHEN ONE'S BEEN FLYING A STANDARD ROUTE FOR 6 YRS. TO CORRECT SITUATION: THIS ROUTING WAS ASSIGNED BY CENTER TO ALLEVIATE CONGESTIVE FLOW BTWN DFW AND HOUSTON. IF IT IS EXPERIMENTAL OR PERMANENT I'M NOT SURE, BUT IT WOULD HELP IF A JET ROUTE WERE PUBLISHED ON THE HI ALT CHARTS INDICATING A PROPER COURSE, RADIAL TO BE FLOWN OFF OF (DFW 117.0 154 DEG R, FOR EXAMPLE). I'M SURE MANY OTHERS HAVE MADE THIS SAME MISTAKE.
