Narrative:

I was assigned to gate call for both engines need oil service; lead mechanic said engine number 2 has oil watch. When I serviced number 2; engine required 10 pints [oil]. I thought number 2 engine already has oil watch; that's why it needed more oil. I did not call maintenance control right away to ground the airplane; until when I am typing in maintenance information; when I am called [by] maintenance control about [how] this happened; the aircraft had already taken off. I thought engine number 2 already has oil watch. [Suggest that] on oil work card; [there should be] a note about [the] need to call maintenance control even [if] aircraft has oil watch.

Title: A Line Mechanic reports he did not call their Maintenance Control after servicing the Number 2 engine with ten pints of oil on a company EMB-145; because he was told the engine was already on an oil watch. He thought he was just supposed to service the engine oil.
