Narrative:
Possibly landed without landing clearance. Fatigue and very poor radios contributed to this event. Comm 1 and comm 2 obliterate each other. We have been told by our fleet manager this is common with the thales radios and to not write it up as a discrepancy; similar to the way we are not to report the weather radar; which will often not turn on. This does not resolve the problem. Communications are a mess in the Q400; which is already a very busy airplane.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A Q400 Captain reported possibly landing without clearance; citing poor quality radios. Reporter added he has been told to not write up the problem since it appears to be pervasive.
