Narrative:
Climbing above FL310 on our way to FL340; ATC informed us that we were on the wrong frequency and that our assigned altitude was FL280. We had 340 in the altitude preselector. We believed we were assigned FL340. The controller said he issued a new frequencey 134.02 instead of a new altitude (FL340). We leveled off at FL320 and contacted the new frequencey.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: EMB-145 flight crew mistook frequency assignment of 134.02 for clearance to FL340 and climbed over 3;000 FT above their assigned altitude until advised by ATC of the error.
