Narrative:

We had to return to the departure airport this morning due to a forward cargo bin smoke warning as well as the smell of smoke noticed in the foreword cabin. Passengers were braced by the flight attendants as a precaution due to our 3;000 pound over weight landing condition. After landing we checked with flight attendants and they said the smoke was gone. We taxied to the ramp and deplaned without incident using only the air stair door. All appropriate checklists were complied with.
