Narrative:
Fatigue call: 1) assigned 3; 6 day sequences of reserve for april. 2) this was day 6 of the second sequence. 3) on reserve there is no consistency with early morning; late show; deadheads; left seat; right seat; excessive airport appreciation time; getting to the motel after a long day with no reservations (happens a lot on reserve); scheduled 14+ hour days ('we can schedule you up to 16 hours because you're on reserve'); put back on rest at 3:30 am to fly later. If you go to bed to get 8 hours of sleep for a 3 am on call; you can't be expected to go back to sleep for another 8 hours. 4) flying with first officer's with steam coming out of their ears; all lead up to my fatigue call. This is my first time calling in fatigued in my entire 23 year career of flying 121.more humane consideration for reserve pilots; just because one is able to interpret the contract to their benefit doesn't necessarily produce the desired results. From speaking to other pilots; especially reserve pilots; you will get fatigue and sick calls if the pilot senses a lack of respect for their time and professionalism.
