Narrative:
During normal operations at washington dulles airport, the tower operator apparently lost the situation and almost caused an accident. At approximate time that my flight was cleared 'into position and hold' on runway 19L at iad, the tower operator advised an air carrier flight to execute a missed approach due to an aircraft still on runway 19R. With attention diverted to the air carrier missed approach, the tower operator apparently missed a business jet on final approach to 19L. My first indication of a problem was the business jet announcing that he was executing a missed approach on runway 19L. A long silence followed and ultimately, my flight was cleared to takeoff. As I always do upon entering the runway (day or night), all aircraft lights were on. The attention of the business jet and possibly my aircraft lights prevented a possibly catastrophic accident.

Title: ACR-MLG CLEARED INTO POSITION AND HOLD DELAY IN TKOF CLRNC RESULTED IN CORP-LTT ON APCH EXECUTING GO AROUND.
Narrative: DURING NORMAL OPS AT WASHINGTON DULLES ARPT, THE TWR OPERATOR APPARENTLY LOST THE SITUATION AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. AT APPROXIMATE TIME THAT MY FLT WAS CLRED 'INTO POS AND HOLD' ON RWY 19L AT IAD, THE TWR OPERATOR ADVISED AN ACR FLT TO EXECUTE A MISSED APCH DUE TO AN ACFT STILL ON RWY 19R. WITH ATTN DIVERTED TO THE ACR MISSED APCH, THE TWR OPERATOR APPARENTLY MISSED A BUSINESS JET ON FINAL APCH TO 19L. MY FIRST INDICATION OF A PROB WAS THE BUSINESS JET ANNOUNCING THAT HE WAS EXECUTING A MISSED APCH ON RWY 19L. A LONG SILENCE FOLLOWED AND ULTIMATELY, MY FLT WAS CLRED TO TKOF. AS I ALWAYS DO UPON ENTERING THE RWY (DAY OR NIGHT), ALL ACFT LIGHTS WERE ON. THE ATTN OF THE BUSINESS JET AND POSSIBLY MY ACFT LIGHTS PREVENTED A POSSIBLY CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT.
