Narrative:
During climb out from vidp we received a green hydraulic system reservoir overheat ECAM. The ECAM procedures were accomplished including turning off both green system pumps. We declared an emergency and decided to return to vidp. All associated procedures from the ECAM message including QRH and normal checklist were run and completed. The aircraft was overweight for the return to vidp by approximately 10;800 pounds and the vertical speed at touchdown was around 200 FPM. We were then towed off runway and back to the gate without further complications. ATC; ramp; and the flight crew communicated clearly; concisely; and effectively to resolve the issue.
