Narrative:

Just after rotation we got EICAS message 'emerg doors'; underneath it were two additional messages that appeared to indicate 'over wing slides'. They were only illuminated for two to three seconds. Due to the critical nature of this phase of flight and short duration of EICAS lights; we were not able to confirm which doors were indicated. Emergency doors checklist was accomplished and return to [departure airport]. We landed overweight (208;000 pounds) as we could not be certain that overwing slides would not deploy in flight.
