Narrative:
On approach at 3;000 MSL a laser on left side aircraft targeted aircraft. I caught a hit in left eye causing great discomfort and blurriness. Was able to land. It should not have happened.

Title: A B737 Captain was struck by a laser at 3;000 FT on approach but landed safely while experiencing blurred vision and eye discomfort.
