Narrative:
Situation is not clear at this time. FAA called our corp flight office and wanted to know who was flying mdt coming out of psp to int on 1/xx/89. No names, etc, were given. FAA said action pending. The only knowledge I have on anything happening was my copilot was asked our routing around (near) pke eastbound, I don't recall our exact position at the time. He read back a wrong clearance from what I was told our flight dispatch filed for us. I corrected him and the lax controller and even gave the routing to abq center later. By that time lax had given us direct to ama and read the remaining part of what I believed to be the filed plan. There was nothing said I considered out of the norm. I'm at a loss as to what the problem was or is. FAA is reviewing tapes and will notify us today or tomorrow of action. I have called my AOPA legal aid and they have given me some lawyers names. The FAA wanted to meet with our chief pilot who is out in psp at this time. I have instructed the chief pilot not to say anything since it's our company's position that I'm in this on my own with no help from them, legal or otherwise. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following: psp TRACON and ZLA were having coordination problems and reporter's chief pilot talked to FAA inspector in psp who knew of incident and stated the TRACON was just looking for an out for their foul up. Problem was between what psp TRACON thought route was and what ZLA had in computer.

FAA SAID ACTION PENDING. THE ONLY KNOWLEDGE I HAVE ON ANYTHING HAPPENING WAS MY COPLT WAS ASKED OUR ROUTING AROUND (NEAR) PKE EBND, I DON'T RECALL OUR EXACT POS AT THE TIME. THE FAA WANTED TO MEET WITH OUR CHIEF PLT WHO IS OUT IN PSP AT THIS TIME. I HAVE INSTRUCTED THE CHIEF PLT NOT TO SAY ANYTHING SINCE IT'S OUR COMPANY'S POSITION THAT I'M IN THIS ON MY OWN WITH NO HELP FROM THEM, LEGAL OR OTHERWISE. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING: PSP TRACON AND ZLA WERE HAVING COORD PROBS AND RPTR'S CHIEF PLT TALKED TO FAA INSPECTOR IN PSP WHO KNEW OF INCIDENT AND STATED THE TRACON WAS JUST LOOKING FOR AN OUT FOR THEIR FOUL UP. PROB WAS BTWN WHAT PSP TRACON THOUGHT ROUTE WAS AND WHAT ZLA HAD IN COMPUTER.
