Narrative:
We were given a clearance to climb from 10000 MSL to 20000 MSL. As I approached 10800 MSL the controller said something I couldn't make out but the captain did understand. He (the captain) said to return to 10000 MSL, at that moment I looked to my right and saw the other aircraft. I started a descent to the left and then the captain took control. The controller admitted his mistake to us over the radio. No one was hurt on our aircraft.
