Narrative:

While taxiing into position for takeoff on 26L atl, aircraft behind our aircraft reported that our aircraft #2 engine had fire and smoke coming out of the engine. We then cleared the runway on the first taxiway to the left. We were instructed to hold short of taxiway alpha which is the main taxiway leading runway 26L (parallel taxi). Being distracted with what was going on in the cockpit, the captain failed to hold short and by the time I reacted we were sitting in the middle of the taxiway tower asked us if we knew we were supposed to hold short? We said yes, and were advised to then contact ground. No aircraft were on the taxiway in the opposing direction, but this could have caused a problem. This was caused from distrs in the cockpit which was caused by the fire on the #2 engine. No other problems were encountered.

Title: ACR MLG WITH REPORTED ENGINE FIRE CLEARS RWY AND FAILS TO HOLD SHORT OF PARALLEL TXWY AS INSTRUCTED BY TWR.

Narrative: WHILE TAXIING INTO POS FOR TKOF ON 26L ATL, ACFT BEHIND OUR ACFT RPTED THAT OUR ACFT #2 ENG HAD FIRE AND SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE ENG. WE THEN CLRED THE RWY ON THE FIRST TXWY TO THE LEFT. WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO HOLD SHORT OF TXWY ALPHA WHICH IS THE MAIN TXWY LEADING RWY 26L (PARALLEL TAXI). BEING DISTRACTED WITH WHAT WAS GOING ON IN THE COCKPIT, THE CAPT FAILED TO HOLD SHORT AND BY THE TIME I REACTED WE WERE SITTING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TXWY TWR ASKED US IF WE KNEW WE WERE SUPPOSED TO HOLD SHORT? WE SAID YES, AND WERE ADVISED TO THEN CONTACT GND. NO ACFT WERE ON THE TXWY IN THE OPPOSING DIRECTION, BUT THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A PROB. THIS WAS CAUSED FROM DISTRS IN THE COCKPIT WHICH WAS CAUSED BY THE FIRE ON THE #2 ENG. NO OTHER PROBS WERE ENCOUNTERED.
