Narrative:
I had been cleared by dayton radio from I69 to pkb via V128 yrk V44 jpu dir pkb. My initial clearance told me to fly heading 180 degrees before entering controled airspace. Upon establishing contact with cincinnati approach I was told to turn left heading 120 degrees to join V128 and to contact ZID. The winds at altitude were southwesterly. I checked in with center, aligned on my assigned heading and requested direct pkb. At this point I was told to turn 20 degrees right because I had entered R5503A which was active at the time. I turned to heading 140 degrees and joined V128. I feel that cincinnati should not have been so quick to turn me to a heading of 120 degrees as the winds may have pushed me closer to the restr area. My initial heading of 180 degrees would have taken me to V128 well clear of R5503A.
