Narrative:

After we flew 3 legs, we were advised by another crew member that the horizontal plastic tip in the stabilizer was missing. An 'a' inspection was done by maintenance the night before and signed off. A C-2 inspection was done the day before and signed off. When we first got the aircraft I preflted the cockpit and the cabin, and the copilot preflted the outside. Before boarding the passenger for the first flight, I asked the first officer and he assured me that the oil level was checked and oil caps secured, that the hydraulic fluid was also checked, and that he did not find anything wrong during his outside preflight. I grounded the the aircraft in an out station and after replacement parts were installed we flew back to our home base.
