Narrative:

On originating flight, FAA inspectors (2) entered the cockpit and wanted to verify logbook compliance on 'speed- taped dent' in right horizontal stabilizer. Our company maintains computer records and I called maintenance and dispatch to verify previous documentation (it was not in logbook pages currently on board). Eventually, it was found as action taken on a 'non-routine card.' I obtained a formal amendment to my release to reflect such and departed after a 10 min delay for this exercise.
