Narrative:

Scheduled departure time was XA05 EST, flight xx, roc/ord. Flight control departure time of XA28 advised on roc clearance delivery frequency. I determined engine start time of XA20. When first officer called ground for taxi, was advised to hold short of taxiway D, on left side of taxiway C. Before reaching hold short limit, was advised that our release time was immediate, and cleared taxi to runway 22 'without delay'. Taxied into position, runway 22, and was then cleared 'into position and hold, runway 22', by tower controller, followed immediately by 'cleared for takeoff'. First officer had changed communication frequency from ground to tower approaching runway, and voice sounded same on both ground and tower frequencys. During landing rollout, flight ab about 1 hour earlier than actual departure time of flight xx, tower controller cleared us 'to the ramp, remain this frequency'. We noted that same controller was operating both tower and ground frequencys. Cross keyed frequencys sometimes lead to confusion on both sides.

Title: ACR MLG TAXIED INTO POSITION ON RWY WITHOUT CLRNC.

Narrative: SCHEDULED DEP TIME WAS XA05 EST, FLT XX, ROC/ORD. FLT CONTROL DEP TIME OF XA28 ADVISED ON ROC CLRNC DELIVERY FREQ. I DETERMINED ENGINE START TIME OF XA20. WHEN F/O CALLED GND FOR TAXI, WAS ADVISED TO HOLD SHORT OF TXWY D, ON LEFT SIDE OF TXWY C. BEFORE REACHING HOLD SHORT LIMIT, WAS ADVISED THAT OUR RELEASE TIME WAS IMMEDIATE, AND CLRED TAXI TO RWY 22 'WITHOUT DELAY'. TAXIED INTO POSITION, RWY 22, AND WAS THEN CLRED 'INTO POSITION AND HOLD, RWY 22', BY TWR CTLR, FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY 'CLRED FOR TKOF'. F/O HAD CHANGED COM FREQ FROM GND TO TWR APCHING RWY, AND VOICE SOUNDED SAME ON BOTH GND AND TWR FREQS. DURING LNDG ROLLOUT, FLT AB ABOUT 1 HR EARLIER THAN ACTUAL DEP TIME OF FLT XX, TWR CTLR CLRED US 'TO THE RAMP, REMAIN THIS FREQ'. WE NOTED THAT SAME CTLR WAS OPERATING BOTH TWR AND GND FREQS. CROSS KEYED FREQS SOMETIMES LEAD TO CONFUSION ON BOTH SIDES.
