Upon gear retraction; ECAM message received for loss of green hydraulic system. Tow weight was about 166;000 pounds. Declared emergency; diverted to [nearest suitable airport] due to long runway; and unlimited visibility. Gravity extended gear; landed overweight approximately 156;000 pounds. Uneventful landing. Tow in to the gate due to no nose wheel steering.
