Narrative:
While descending through 2;600 ft on a 3-5 mile left base the egpws commanded 'obstacle; pull up!' alert went away as soon as the descent rate was arrested. Crew elected to abandon approach and circle back to land. No further alerts were received and landing was uneventful. Passengers did not seem to notice and were unfazed by the event.

Title: A C560XL flight crew responded appropriately to an EGPWS obstacle warning while on a left base to their destination.
Narrative: While descending through 2;600 FT on a 3-5 mile left base the EGPWS commanded 'obstacle; PULL UP!' Alert went away as soon as the descent rate was arrested. Crew elected to abandon approach and circle back to land. No further alerts were received and landing was uneventful. Passengers did not seem to notice and were unfazed by the event.
